Associate of Arts in Elementary Education: BYU-Idaho

Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education: Great Basin College

I  received my Associate of Arts degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho. After taking time off to be a full time mom to my three kiddos, I returned to college. I graduated from Great Basin College with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Special Education and TESL (teaching English as a Second Language).

I have been accepted into graduate school at University of Nevada - Las Vegas and will start my program in Special Education for the Severe & Profound in the fall of 2017. I am also working on my Early Childhood endorsement through Great Basin College and will be finished with that in the Spring of 2018.

Privately Owned Pre-school: One year as a four year old teacher

Brazosport Independent School District: Three years as a Substitute teacher

White Pine County School District: Three years as a Substitute teacher and Para-professional

I am not new to education. I worked as a teacher for a private pre-school in Park City, Utah. I taught the four year old class and totally loved it. However, the opportunity arose for us to move back to Texas, and as a result, I worked as a substitute in the Brazosport Independent School District for three years before relocating to Wyoming. This is the school district where my parents taught, so it was like returning home. I have worked in the White Pine County School District as a substitute, para-professional, and teacher for four years. I have taught kindergarten and first grade and look forward to continuing first grade this next school year. I love working for the White Pine County School District and have been very blessed to work with many of our wonderful educators.

I was born in Anaheim, California, but spent most of my life on the Gulf Coast of Texas. My parents were both teachers until they retired in 2006. I am the older sister to one sister and one brother. I had a wonderful childhood in Texas and feel very blessed to have been raised there.

I have been married to my college sweetheart for 29 years and together we have three children - Zakk, Hannah, and Beka all of which are White Pine High School graduates. I am blessed to have a beautiful daughter-in-love (Cheyenne), and the most adorable grand princess (Emma) ever. If that is not enough, I am also a mama to five wonderful fur babies - three dogs and two cats. I am also an aunt to 27 nieces and nephews, and 19 grand nieces and nephews. My family means everything to me.

I am an avid reader and have so far read 18 books since January 2017. I also love to crochet and to quilt and am very active in my church. I am an avid football fan. I love to support the White Pine High School Bobcats (my son played for them when he was in school) and my favorite football team the New England Patriots (2015 and 2017 Super Bowl champs).

I have known that I wanted to be a teacher since I was four years old. I never played house and mommy like a lot of little girls, I played school. Every day when I would come home from school, I immediately went and taught what I had learned that day to my stuffed animals and dolls. When it was time for me to meet with my guidance counselor at school, I didn't have to think twice about what I wanted to do, I knew I had to be a teacher. I was born to be a teacher, it's in my soul. I love the feeling of teaching a child something and when you see the light go off in their thinking - it is the most amazing thing to experience. I love it!

I look forward to teaching 1st grade here at David E. Norman
